STATE COMMITTEE MEMBER
ABOUT DION
Putting Experience to Work

Dion C. Quamina I is a Brownsville born, Veteran, and community leader, whose work sits at the intersection of civic engagement, organizing, and accountability. Dion has exhibited his leadership across local politics—serving in senior campaign and strategic roles, managing field operations, developing policy messaging, and coordinating community outreach efforts that connect residents directly to elected officials and party leadership. He is also the founder of a community-based nonprofit focused on civic engagement, youth development, and empowering residents to participate meaningfully in local democracy. A proud U.S. Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard Veteran, Dion brings discipline, structure, and follow-through to every role he takes on. His experience spans Community Board 17, Neighborhood Advisory Board 16, nonprofit civic engagement initiatives, student government leadership at CUNY Bronx Community College, and senior community relations work within a New York State Assembly office, where he was often the first point of contact for constituents navigating government systems. As District Leader for Assembly District 55, Dion focuses on strengthening communication between the community, the Democratic Party, and elected officials—ensuring transparency, accessibility, and real accountability. He believes District Leaders should be active, present, and responsive, not symbolic. With the support of dedicated volunteers and community partners, Dion is committed to keeping local politics local and ensuring leadership truly reflects the people it serves.
Leadership shouldn’t be distant. Dion shows up.
